Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition and Fees
Tuition and fees for each upcoming school year are established in February of for the following school year. The tuition and fees for the 2008-09 school year are available in the Admissions Downloads section of this website.
As a convenient alternative to lump-sum tuition payments, NPS offers monthly payment plans, administered by Tuition Management Systems. Both the first-time application and annual renewal may be completed online at http://www.afford.com/npsdc .
Financial Aid
For those families who cannot meet the full tuition costs, financial aid grants are available. Unfortunately, each year the number of requests for aid is greater than the School's resources; therefore, NPS cannot guarantee a grant for every family who is accepted. If this situation occurs, the student will be placed on a waiting list for any funds that may become available in the future. If you receive tuition assistance, reductions in Early Birds, After 3 Club, After School Classes and Summer Horizons Camp are available.
All financial aid grants are based on the family's need as determined by the School and Student Service (SSS) for Financial Aid. Parents are required to fill out the Parents Financial Statement (PFS) and submit the form to SSS before February 13, 2009. SSS will then generate a need analysis report that is sent to both NPS and the family. Parents must also submit 2008 income tax forms to the NPS Admissions Office. When considering an independent school education, families should expect to contribute to their children's educational costs at the highest possible level given their economic situation. The Financial Aid Committee closely follows the recommendation from SSS when determining the award amount.
In the case of Financial Aid, the School will consider the assets of both natural parents, if living, before making any award, and cannot be bound by the assertion that one parent has disclaimed responsibility for educational expenses. If either parent has remarried, we will consider also the assets of the stepparent, always bearing in mind the obligation of that stepparent to his or her own natural children.
Admission to NPS is need-blind; requests for financial aid have no bearing on admissions decisions. However, the Admissions Office asks that all financial forms be submitted before the admissions deadline of February 20, 2009, so that the financial aid packages can be awarded along with admissions decisions.
Grants are renewable yearly and depend on the School's continued resources, the family's need, and the student's satisfactory progress at NPS.
